Board Member Candidates
Hello Otters,
Don’t blink!! Believe it or not, we are quickly approaching the end of our swim season. As we start wrapping up, we are looking for 3 new members to join the Board for next season. Roles that will be vacated after this 2018 swim season: WHALe League Representative, Secretary and Volunteer Coordinator.
Our out-going board members are Rock Stars and will be sorely missed. I think our swim team reflects our current board to a degree in that we have a set of individuals that really strive to do their best and contribute to make this a great team. We hope to find individuals that can help further our goal of building a great swim community.
Benefits of being on the Board:
- You always have a good parking spot, lol
- Do you tend to have a bunch of great ideas that come to you while you are sitting in your chair, waiting on the next race? You get to voice them and help implement them
- You have a say in how our team is run
- You learn more about the sport
- If you like to be involved with your child's lives and sports, this is a great way to do it
- Discounted swim registration costs
A Board Member’s term is 3 years and each year 3 Board Members retire. This ensures that we can start a new season with 6 experienced Board Members, who can impart their knowledge to the 3 new Board Members.
The Board's season begins each Nov/Dec and meets once a month. During May and June (the actual swim season) the Board will meet as needed.
Voting will take place at the end of team party on Friday, June 22, 9-11am. All team parents who are present may cast a ballot. You do not have to be present at party to be on the ballot, but candidates will be given an opportunity to tell a little about themselves/qualifications to other parents with whom they may not be acquainted, so there is often an advantage to being on deck.
If you have any interest in these positions, please contact me directly. If you have any questions, feel free to contact myself or any of our current Board members directly. See detailed job descriptions below.
Please help us in continuing to build a great team!
-Todd
