Final Shout Outs and It’s a Wrap!
Hello Otters!
I hope you didn’t blink, because just like that we are done for the season!
Last night we attended the WHALe All Star Meet (ASM). This meet was comprised of the fastest swimmers across the 32-team WHALe organization. I’m proud to say that we had 30 swimmers representing us! We came in 4th place for overall ASM scoring. You will find the swim results linked in this email. Congratulations to all our ASM swimmers!
Big shout out to our coaches; Coach Sweeso, Beck, Pruitt, Ian, Hannah, Isabel and Daniel. Our swimmers really enjoyed being coached by such a fun and encouraging group. As a parent, I really love seeing the commitment the coaches make in making our kids better swimmers and making sure they have fun doing it! Thank you, coaches!
Regarding our yearly $500 scholarship, I’m excited to say that our recipient this year is Coach Ian! Ian will be attending Texas A&M in the fall and it looks like he won’t be able to join us next year in the summer, but we wish him well in his new adventure! Great young man and very deserving. He is a distinguished role model for our Otters.
I would also like to acknowledge and announce the following for next year:
- Dani Kjar and Emma Cross will be taking on the Volunteer Coordinator role
- Kristi Jury will be continuing as our WHALe rep and Erika Reed will be shadowing her to learn the ropes in a very important role
- Peter Brandon will be taking on the role as the team Secretary
I want to thank our Board. We could not have asked for a better group of volunteers to run the team. They have all gone beyond the call of duty this year. They spent blood (maybe?), sweat (literally) and tears (I hope not literally). Please join me in thanking them for all they have done to contribute to the team! This is a spirited group of hard working individuals that are dedicated in making our team the best it can be. A special thanks to our out-going members, Christy Davis and Melissa Pinkerton…y’all are Rock Stars and you will be missed!! Your President and parents thank you!
Lastly, I want to thank our team parents. As a 100% volunteer-run team and league, your involvement and commitments went a long way in completing a very successful summer season! We hope you and your swimmers had a lot of fun, enjoyment and excitement as they competed with their friends and neighbors. I saw a lot of smiles and laughter this year which is what it’s all about!
See you at the pool next summer! Go Otters!
-Todd
