Hello Otters Families,

After careful consideration, I am sad to report that the CRSW Otters Board has come to the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 summer swim season due to Covid-19.

This is not a decision any of us on the board took lightly. We know how much our swimmers enjoy and benefit from participating on our swim team and that the cancellation is likely to be a big disappointment. We as a board have already put in countless hours in preparing for the season. However, as board members and parents, we recognize that the first priority is the safety and wellness of our team, families and coaches. With a team of our large size, we do not feel that we can reasonably maintain group size, social distancing and sanitation guidelines as needed to ensure everyone’s safety in a practice or meet situation. As a further consideration, Governor Abbott’s guidelines(G18) issued to start on May 1st allow only a maximum of 4 participants in outdoor sports and no one is allowed to use public pools until at least May 18. WHALe will not be extending the dates of the swim season past the end of June, so the time frame is very limited for any significant changes.

While we are still working out details, please note some important information below:

REFUNDS: All families will be receiving a full refund for their registrations for the 2020 season.

REGISTRATION FOR 2021: All registered swimmers this year will be considered returning swimmers for the 2021 season with access to early registration. Be looking for our email coming out early next year for dates of registration.

UPCOMING BOARD ELECTIONS: As per our by-laws, there are three board positions that will rotate this year. The positions that are up for nomination/vote are: Communications, Registrar and Treasurer. CRSW OTTERS SCHOLARSHIP-We are hoping to continue to offer our scholarship opportunity for senior swimmers this year. Please watch emails for further updates.
